At Ridge Road we farm 60 acres of property producing 13 different varieties of Vinifera and Hybrid grapes. We’re looking for someone to manage our unique and expanding culinary needs. This position is ideally suited for someone who is interested in taking this opportunity and expanding it as our business grows.

 

Job Description

We are looking to hire a dedicated and reliable kitchen assistant to support our head chef with food preparation as well as performing all washing and cleaning duties required in the kitchen. Candidate must be able to prepare our menu items to a high standard of quality, taste, presentation, and hygiene within the winery. The kitchen assistant's responsibilities also include inventory control, garbage removal, general cleaning, and dishes. We are looking for a team member with exceptional time management and the ability to comply with all food health and safety regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Together, with the head chef, plan and assist with daily food offerings at the winery. Including but not limited to:
  • Cheese and charcuterie boards
  • Sandwiches, dips, appetizers, and salads
  • Desserts and pastries
  • Daily food prep work
  • Keeping up with dishes and general cleaning duties
  • Execution of small event catering
  • Work co-operatively with front of house staff to respond to guest needs
  • Monitoring stock and preparing food/grocery order
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of recipes, procedures, and plating for all menu items
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and food safety

Job Requirements

We are looking for team members who are/have:

  • Courteous, friendly, positive attitude
  • Previous experience in cooking/baking an asset
  • Passion for food and creativity in menu creation
  • Well organized, able to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Able to work in a fast paced and physical environment
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and navigate stairs
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds throughout the workday
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings throughout the season
  • Access to personal transportation (there is no public transit in the area)
  • Over the age of 18 with a valid food handlers’ certificate

Job Type: Part or Full-time hours available (20-35 hours/week)

Seasonal: Spring to fall (possibility to extend into a permanent, year-round position)
